another shot of the exhaust port
jason1
My bus has been sputtering, misfiring and running poorly.
I swapped the muffler today, check out the exhaust port on the passenger side. No soot on the right.
WTF?

exhaust evidence of engine problem?
jason1
I pulled off my muffler, and this is what the exhaust ports looked like on the passenger side of my '72 Westy. The far right port had no black "soot" lining it like the other three ports did.
Is this evidence of what is making my bus sputter and run poorly?
And, is the one without soot (the right one) for the #! or the #2 cylinder?

Found this dangling near the battery in my '72 Westy. I can;t for the life of me figure out where it goes.

Army smashes an Iraq Double cab
jason1
This was from the AP news site: A U.S. Army soldier breaks a window while searching vehicles on a raid in Najaf, Iraq, Friday, Aug. 20, 2004. Later on Friday, militiamen loyal to rebel Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr removed their weapons from the revered Imam Ali Shrine in Najaf as part of an effort to end 2-week-old uprising centered on the holy site. (AP Photo/Jim MacMillan)
I guess these soldiers saw "Back To The Future" and figured that all terrorists drive Bay Window busses.

NOS late split bus door
jason1
Here's an NOS split bus door I picked up at OCTO. The handle area has the flat part at the back, leading me to think it's late (post 64) split bus. Or, at least I hope it is.

DARTHVW and the proud dad
jason1
One current and future VW lover.

She'll be a 3rd generation VW owner, since my dad had a 64 bug (original owner) and a 72 Westy.

I miss those cars.

Babies like DARTHVW -- almost!

I finally convinced my wife that taking our daughter out in the 67 deluxe was not-so-bad an idea. I've had it for 14 months and this was the first time either had ridden in it. A nice trip to the beach. From this picture, though, it seems like my daughter would rather be left alone with her book "Jamberry." I recommend it!

My 3 favorite things: My awesome wife, my precious 1-year-old girl, and my 67 deluxe. This is just south of Malibu on a hazy October Saturday afternoon at the beach. Still was pretty warm. Should I get a sunroof skin? Nah, this is Southern California. What's rain?

DRIVE-IN SPEAKERS IN A BUS!

These old drive-in speakers just hang there, no drilling needed! They even have remote volume controls, for when your passengers don't agree with your AM radio station of choice.

Check out these old drive-in speakers I hooked up to my radio and hung on the bulkhead. Pretty cool! They even sound pretty nice! At least as good as the old mono dash speaker
