I'll try to get some better shots and replace these....

the "1.8" bullet nose style( right side in this pic) is unique to the 30 pict 3 carb and is an 'air bypass' cut off valve not a fuel shut off pilot jet valve.

I call the one for the 30 pict -3 a "bullet tip" because it reminds me of a .22 calibler bullet tip!. (left unit)

The "hole" in the end and the corresponding shut off pin from the solenoid are LARGER ( 1.8mm) as this is an AIR CUTOFF valve not a fuel/idle jet type valve.... 30 pict -3 is an odd year design carb... 1970 model only (*in the USA) there are "variations" of the 30 pict 3 in Europe and other countries though.

I know the pics are not great... I was in a hurry to get a shot for a thread I was posting in. I'll try to take some better macro shots later and replace these.

30 pict 3 style on top... 30 pict -1, pict-2 on the bottom.

When the donut gaskets don't fit tight on the outlet pipe any longer or ( like this one) you have rust through... the heater box "savers" work nice to repair original heat exchangers. I'd rather have a repaired original German one than the crappy after market ones.

When welding pans in with the body on you have to make a small cut at the back corner/hole for bolt and up front on the outer edge for fitting.

I prefer to remove the cheezy rear brace/outrigger and keep the factory one intact.

Unless the original brace is rusted out on the car which it was not on this one.

The jack points need to be removed for a convertible anyway.

At least one set of pans had been put in this car previously. There was a HUGE bead/amount of weld and it took me alot longer to get the residual pan piece ( after cutting out the major section) off instead of the usual easy few minutes to bust the factory spot welds with the air chisel...

I used up several grinding discs grinding all the weld off enough to get the pans to fit flush and properly on the lip of the tunnel'
