I think the Type 4 VIN / Chassis number table here on TheSamba is missing some information. It shows the AT and AN engines codes but not the EA Engine code. EA is the 1700 FI engine that is 80bhp that came on the 1974 Manual (EA came on '72-'74). I think the '74 AT and ANs were all automatic. There is also an EB and EC code.
