buggen,
i might have seen one, how do you know its pre 55? let me know some features, and i'll keep an eye out for you

We found a Riviera motors frame at the swap last weekend for $10!!!!
In pretty good condition too!

All we have to do now is polish it up and paint it and it'll be as good as new!
Screw paying $50 for a stupid frame, look around your swaps and flea markets before deciding to pay out the butt for one!

Pre 1955 California license plate frames are wider then the current plate frame size. They fit the wide 1951 to 1955 California license plates. This split bug has the big CA license plates.

As I said earlier in this thread, I've got cash waiting for a plate from from Kelly Vance Motors in Radcliff, Kentucky. Anybody?

Hell I wouldn't mind any frame that is a VW dealership in or VERY near to Covina Ca. Also any of you NON California's that have bought a Bus with Black plates I could use a pair for when I get back to the states.

You can't re-register black plates. Yet.

I have a set of matching black plates if anyone is interested. I'll be up front about it, one is beat to shiat and someone tried to re-paint it.

The "proof" changed that the DMV requires in the last year or so. I haven't heard of anyone doing it recently.

If you got some help, why not help the rest of us out. I would love to be able to put black plates back on my bus.

When I took my 62 Notch into the DMV the guy gave me a pair of Black plates with the Notch. The lady said does your car have plates I said yes. She asked if they were OG I said NO. She hooked it up. Without asking. She ran the plates nothing came up and she registered them to the notch. No one I knew just happened to be helpful is all. Someone else in the Bus forum or Rants had the same kind of thing happen.

Ok that explains everything there. This was oh almost 6 years ago. Sorry SHSC. Then again I'm sure if you get a hook-up it can be done. Geeze it's only the DMV not the FBI.

At my old job, I used to deliver to the DMV. They were even pricks at the loading docks.
