I made a power point document using pictures from this site to define specific features for the US 1955 beetle interior. I provided this document to my interior vendor (WCCI) to make sure they got it as close to original as possible.

I would be happy to share it with the site if it does not break any rules.

Everett, I can send it to you directly to review it if you want.

Yes, If it would help others, I can post the PDF on the site and add a link in this FAQ thread.

My email is below - thanks!

OK Everett,
I will dress it up a bit and send the PPT.

Hey Everett! It may be nice to have a spot for places and persons that Chromate cases for engines and transmissions. I know of 2. It took me a few months of constant searching to find anything on an old thread in Shoptalk forums. I called the number and the guys wife answered the phone. Super friendly lady. Shot the shit with her for several minutes. She finally told me that her husband passed away and that no one does it. BUT she knows of a guy down the street who did, he was their direct competitor! Chris Childs is the name she said. She gave me his number as well! Long to short he has done a transmission case and an engine case for me and I am super happy. I think that this info should be public knowledge, so is there a way to post this in here some where. We need to keep this guy busy! He is one of a handful.

Chris Childs of Childs Motorsports Chromates cases. 510-734-5977. Tell him Jimbo sent you!

I would be more than happy to post up photos, or you can pull them out of my gallery!

Sounds good.

You could make a feedback thread for him with his info and your pics as a reference/review of the work he has done.

I can link to it here as a source for chromating cases

WOW , i found a lot of useful information here today . some stuff i have wondered about for ages and its all here .......Thanks for putting all this together Everett !!!

just for instance , i have a pair of pop outs and always wondered about the logo ages , found this today

There are other threads on this subject. In summary (these are approximate dates):

1 large SEKURIT or DURO-GLAS only - through 1953

1 large SEKURIT/DURO-GLAS with "snake" and AS-2, etc. - 1954-55

2 large, mirror-image SEKURIT/DURO-GLAS with snake, AS-2, etc - 1956-mid '57

2 small, mirror-image SEKURIT/DURO-GLAS, etc (usually with VW logo) - late '57-on

OG Windshields do not necessarily follow these conventions.

I will get that going this week. I think those searching for Chromating will be thankful, as this information, specifically for VWs, is hard to find. Thanks Everett!

Update. Created the tread. Hope I dotted all the i’s and crossed all the t’s. Let me
Know if I need to do anything else to get him noticed. Big brother is smooshing these guys out. We need to support him!
Thanks again Everett!
