Finally after a couple of years this car is finished and has "left the building". We had lots of help on this open for sure. I thought at my age that I knew more than I did. It takes a car like this to humble you. So, many times I wanted to just run from this pain in my a$#^!!.. But, we did it like I said with the help of many people. John Henry, Jim Breemer, Raoul, Tony Huchinson, Claus missing, Spilko, and others who's names I can not think of right now. They know who they are.

Anyway, thanks for all that sent me pictures of the top, headliner, etc. Tony saw I was looking for the decretive pieces on the top of the door rubbers. He just put them in a envelope and sent them to me. Man, that's over the top..

Here is the page showing the restoration pictures and also the finished pictures. http://www.classicvws.com/50convt.htm

Yeah, definetly go put that thing in a museum. It is a work of art. How long did it take to get this point?

VWGirl Sat Mar 05, 2005 1:39 pm

i wanted to look at the pics, but when i click on the thumbnails, they dont seem to go to the corresponding big picture... some of them do... just not the ones i was wanting to see :(

VWGirl Sat Mar 05, 2005 1:40 pm

Thanks people for looking and commenting.. VWGirl, I'll fix that tomorrow.. It's hard to see this car go after doing all that work. But, the last payment helps with the pain.. 8)

Lenny
Wow,that '50 Kabrio is certainly worth the wait,STUNNING!!!
truely a world class restoration.....I know it gave you grief from time to time but the end result was worth it.!!I just hope that the new owner really appreciates what it takes to do a resto on an early Kabrio like this, heck I have been doing mine for the last fourteen years so yours was quick in comparison.
Once again, glad I could help with the resto even though I am miles away..
Did you fit the 'Kabrio' badge as well that you got from me?
Look forward to that plate full of Carne Asada in June.
Kind Regards
Tony Hutchison.
