How does the handling of a 69on ghia handle compared to that of a similar year porsche 912/911? How is the handling overall, when setup mildly? Thanks guys.

your question is very broad. the handling is not as good, but somewhat similar. the biggest difference is lack of power. if you set your ghia up, depending on what you mean by that, you can beat porsches.

what kind of racing are you talking about? mine is pretty cheaply set up, and i have beaten porsches at autocrosses. what are you trying to do?

Roachghia: Maybe you beat Porshees simply because you are willing to PUSH your car, where those guys are afraid of 'hurting' theirs? Skill & balls go a long way in gymkana.

 that's for sure! i've broken my car enough times that it's not even a surprise any more. i've broken 3 scat crag fast shifters, bent a shift rod, snapped axles, diffs, gears, too much to list.... so much broken stuff.

the beauty of autocross is that you won't hit a wall and total the car. most cone skuffs will buff out. but like you said, the porsche guys are often weenies-- they're easy to beat! the best advice is to just go out and give your ghia hell. who cares if it's slow at first? you'll find out what needs to be improved pretty quickly. a lot of people worry about setting their car up before they ever drive it, and then come to find out that they wasted a lot of money on the wrong things.

I would say that a '69 Ghia with a beefier front sway bar, mild 1600+
dual port, dual carbs, extractor exhaust, street cam, etc should whip a stock 356 or 912 and give a 911 a helluva fight on a short course. At a
fraction of the cost, I might add!
