Hey there, getting ready to start working on my front axle now. Anything I should be aware of on a 1952 axle? How far down should I take her apart, and is there any rebuild guides for the front end for this year?

Hi Gary,
Kind of depends. If you are just popping the NOS front axle out of the argon filled time capsule from 1952, you just need to grease the zerk fittings and repack the wheel bearings.
Otherwise pretty much a complete tear down is needed to do a proper inspection of all parts. Get the VW Workshop Manual for your year and type of VW.
