Hi all, it's been a while since I posted anything here. Could anyone help me ID this middle seat I just rescued? It seems it has had very little, if any use. Other than a few stitches in the front (see photos), it is perfect. Thanks for any info. Cris

Added some middle seat mount and middle seat cargo mat pics and info to the big post at start of this thread.
If anyone has any other information/photos to add or corrections, post up |

My lack of expertise in identifying the earlier seats has me questioning this. I'm being told that this is a 60-64 but from talking with some friends, this is a 62-63 only based on the grab handles. Any one here able to confirm? 99% sure a 1960 full middle seat has the one continuous grab handle on the 3/4 section.

With that grab handle it is '62-'63 only. You can put an earlier grab handle on it for a '59-'61 kombi, but the spot in the middle of the top will be messed up where there is no mount with the earlier bars. |

Added these reference points to the start of the thread, the change from sewn to heat-seamed seat upholstery was in October, 1963, as well as the changed to the long middle seat folding shape:

As a data point, late 61 models came with those grab handles as well. Not sure when that style started, but my June 61 15 window had those grab handles |

The Standard/Deluxe upholstery change was:
March 1961 , Chassis Number 749 001
I'm not sure if that VIN # is really exact though or if Kombis would have changed at the exact same time. |

Hello everybody
I'm from Mexico and I'd like to know if someone know about this "five leg" seat, it looks like 50's Buses but I haven't seen the option of five leg and also the seat base is differente, the internal structure is made by straight structure instead of tubes and it doesn't look to have been modified in the past.
Thanks to all!

This 5 April 1961 deluxe has original middle seat, original basalt interior, pockets on front door panels:
Progressive Refinements says June 2 went to the later middle seat grab bar:
so two months into basalt had the 'fixed rod', like the above pics
June 1961 had this kind of grab bar, like Riff Raff says:

This doesn't look like any VW Bus seat I have every seem. I think it is from a different car maker or maybe homemade to fit a bus from other seats? |
