i have a 66 body on a 69 suspsnsion it will be running an 1835 sand sealed and running weber 32/36 progressive two barrel carb.

i am looking to get a cheap baja kit. my front end of my vw is all screwy , i might go with a one piece front end and just cut the hood of it.
any side effect if i stable and support it to keep it from folding?

also my baja to be is going to be a mostly daily drive with going out on the weekends.

so i am not going to big on tires maybe like a 28 looking to do a small lift.

curious where to get started

Similar boat!

I have a 1961/1963 hybrid beetle. I went with a Mark V Baja kit. The one piece Baja front makes you cut alot of the front end away. If you plan on a daily driver, the one piece front end opens the front inside to the elements- rain, snow, air, etc.

My front end was hit, but it is easy to repair. A Baja kit is about $300-$500 shipped, depending on where you live.

i am in need of a front clip to fix mine i might be doing that then. instead of the one piece i am tired of the cold coming in as it is.
i need a front clip and hood. but i want it to be a good daily driver

A cheap kit would be to buy used, there are lots laying around post a want ad on the classifieds. If your gonna go new, well you are in AZ Depending on location you may be lucky enough to just drive to Mark V and pick up what you need/want.

I don't know about cutting the one piece up, they aren't made for strength, they are made to be light. You know you can leave alot of meat on the car with some FG noses. they are usually a tad wider than the actual front clip of the car. If your creative, you could make a sort of wall going across and alomst make a little trunk area still be tough to make it waster/airtite though, its tough to do that with a standard kit! Just use a tilt fornt bumper to access the nose.

can i take my already wide rear fenders and make baja fender out of them by cutting out the middle section and re-welding them. then they are metal and can hold up a little better

You can do that, or pickup some used front fenders, mount them on the back (the bolt pattern is almost the same) and cut them to your liking.

CORRECTION on the Carb it is a bugspray carb not a weber
running lightened pulleys, stinger 4-1 exhaust, oil cooler, external oil filter, extended tubes, airfilter w/cover so i don't have to wory about rain, still running a generator but i have the conversion kit.
and reminder it is an 1835
for 600 good deal?

I always thought you just needed the offset coupler and the outer stub axles with cv`s, But not sure?

KARTEK or cartech I can/t remember the name in california makes a kit, the front mount wleds to the torsion housing, and there are 2 tabs to weld on the frame horns, will let you put a 002 or 091 bus trans in the 002 has larger ring and pinion gearratio/ great for large tires, the 091 or five rib is more durable, have distroyed several tranies, CV, Hubs... but the mount survives.. the mount tilts the engine/trans combo up in the rear 10 deg. shift rod stays in the tunnel so the E brake still will work.
