Here's another crazy discovery about my 1953 Barndoor Panel worth mentioning...

This is a NOS Postcard that was found that has a picture of it in front of Lido Dry Cleaners in Newport Beach from back when it was new...

That was 10 minutes ago.

Brendan,
Have you taken a current pic in the same location yet?

No, I've never been to that exact spot before. I heard that that exact location of Lido Dry Cleaners recently closed.

KCW, do you want the original photo?

Too bad Tom Tom can't see that old picture, you should send a copy to his familia.

The single cab is a joke...I just like the look of the guy wearing the "Risky Business" sunglasses....and how he took the time to line up the stripes on his shirt with the belt-line of the bus.

Oh shit, I didn't realize that this Tom Cruise stunt double is a member of the 4'17" club for men!

I like the lady and the BD photo. Do you have a high resolution scan you can send or post. I am interested to see the headlight detail and the winged logo on the front.

Thanks,

Here's another one of my favorites:

look another middle seat out of a bus.

I'm curious about that postcard. How can you tell that's your bus?

There was only one location of Lido Dry Cleaners, the logos on the sides of my Bus are clearly visible in person, and I just suspect that they likely didn't have more than one brand new Dove Blue Barndoor Panel Bus for deliveries. I could be wrong but I really doubt that I am.

Brendan,

Scan the bus at high resolution and zoom in. I want to see it in all its glory.

Thanks,

As for the rest of you...I posted a bad-ass photo of an early logo panel (Afri-Cola) and don't even get comments from the peanut gallery. You guys are jaded.

Jeff- Doug has a great scanner that he scanned the postcard on. The problem is that the technology back then left a lot to be desired. It is very pixelated and the alignment of the colored dots is slightly off. We played with the scan and couldn't really make out any details too clearly. You could just see the hint of the logos on the side but couldn't make out the color nor the details of them. You'd have to see it to fully understand. But I think Doug could probably email you the file if you wanted to give it a look.

I understand. The print quality on most postcards is pretty basic.

What's cool about the old vintage photos is the super high analog resolution. Even the smallest details can sometimes be seen when you magnify the image. A lot of times I see things in the small format photos after I scan them and blow them up that you can't see with the naked eye.
