So who apart from Airkewled sells dropped spindles for early type threes then?
I need a pair asap.
Thanks,
Ollie

If you're looking for something less expensive, you ain't gonna find it unless someone has a pair they are selling used.
There are physical limitations as well as safety factors that are involved with a dropped spindle -- it's NOT simply a matter of cutting it off and rewelding it!
If you want your car lowered, do it the standard way. If you have to lower it the geometrically correct way plus with the cool factore then the standard rule applies: You gotta pay to play. |

Yeah thanks, but there's no need to patronise me, I know what I'm doing, I already run a juiced and slammed Notch, but I wanna go lower at the front.
And I'm not looking for a cheap way around it, I'm just looking for someone to actually give me a price.
Thanks.

you can go as low as you want pretty much lowering it the standard way.
but
airkewleds are 200
berts are welded, and require more work, so they will cost more than 200.
those are the only 2 i know of. |

Cut the bump stops. You can set it on the ground.
Harsh ride tho... |

I don't think ACN was patronizing (yank spelling) you. Just giving you some info.
Juiced? What does this mean? Big motor? Nitrous? or is this some sort of Monster Garage Notch that actually makes juice? (I like orange.)
No one makes a drop spindle for a Type 3 commercially, yet (that I'm aware of) - Ber and Airkewld (soon) are the closest you can get.
The only other alternative that I know of is the Type 1 beam that KCW builds for a Type 3 - then you can run any number of dropped spindles for a Type 1. |

Thanks Philip, and apologies again to ACN, I was having a bad day yesterday... :)
I meant juiced as in hydraulic suspension. Problem I'm having is that by using 6inch rams and not having dropped brackets, on full drop it sits on the fully compressed rams, limiting how low it will go, so I need the dropped spindles to give me the extra drop.
I could get the car lower as it's lowered 3 splines at the front... but that means no juice!
Thanks for all your help guys, much appreciated.

Info from my brochure:
Specifications:
- 42mm drop ≈ 2” drop (more at the fenders)
- Bearing sizes 17.5 mm and 29 mm + caliper bolt spacing of 56 mm (disc brake only)
- CNC machined on a milling cutter
- Spring pinned matched
- Welded after heating to ensure good penetration *
- Bolted through for extra strength (1 M10 + 2 M12 bolts)
- Stock speedo cable can be used
- New speedo cable grommet included
- Installation manual included
* Note that because of the welded design these dropped spindles increase track 10mm to each side
** Note that because of the bolt in ball joints, which are bolted from the bottom, it is impossible to achieve an even bigger drop.
The ball joints would hit the rim itself
Options:

Did you extend the shock towers or ram towers? Sounds like the your torsion bars might be limiting you from full travel? I pulled my bars out and machined them down so there are no splines and I have full travel. Well as much as the ball joints will allow.
I have a set spindle on order from airkewld because my new ball joints are holding me about a inch from the ground.
Good luck.

Thanks Paul,
Torsion bars all seem fine, like I said I think it's the rams which are preventing me from going lower as they're fully compressed, but there's more travle available in the rest of the set up.
I could go with shorter rams as an answer but then it'd cut down the amount of travel up front on full lift.
Cheers,
Ollie |

Just to clear up any confusion, I am going to call up each and every one of the people tomorrow who have placed a pre order with me regarding these spindles to make sure of a list of people who still want them. If by the end of tomorrow i do not have 50 preorders, i am scrapping the idea and refunding anybody who has pre paid. Tomorrow it will be one year from the original date when i started this list, and still i have yet to come up with 50 people who want to help out with these, pretty sad. But we will see tomorrow, i will post what i found out at 5:00pm. Talk to you then. |
