View original topic: Engine lid seal install...How to cut the corners
dougrbutler Tue Apr 19, 2005 11:27 am

I'm not looking to cut any corners, but want to know if the four corners of the seal are 45 degree angle cuts, or butted at 90 degrees.

Thanks,

Doug

Damn...I gotta yank that shit out now...

45 would look nice, but 90 does just as mighty! :P

Unless you are looking for a 1000 point inspection win at the "Concourse D'legance" you'll be fine either way. 8)

Thanks.

Being that the current three (lost one this past weekend) don't even begin to meet in the corners, I thought it would be good to seal the lid and keep it as cool running as possible.

I know the question was anal but since I had to do it I wanted to know what the Germans did 40 years ago.

Doesn't someone sell a one piece seal....

I found that super glue does a fantastic job of joining the corners if you cut them at a 45.

BUT, shouldn't that be 2 pieces or would you have to remove the rubber when removing the apron? :?

It is cut on the bottom in the middle by the latch

Dave,

Is your NOS seal split at the bottom in the middle by the latch?
