I recently get this hood handle.
In my knowledge, it's the same style as zwitter usual handles... solid.
But this one is cromed, however, it's a FRIVO one, that i think that it's earlyer than the Huf's ones that are more usual to find.
So, it's a zwitter handle or a early 53' oval one?
It's rare? Because i haven't seen one before whit the FRIVO stamp.
Thanks for any info!

Can you post a pic of the Frivo stamping? The 6-month Zwitter hood handle is solid Aluminum, and is stamped with the maker's emblem, plus a VW emblem, under the wider round base.
A chromed unit would most likely be made of pot metal, and therefore heavier. Without a VW emblem underneath it might not be OEM. It is probably not earlier because (1) pre-zwitter hood handles were also solid aluminum and (2) The trend was normally towards cost cutting, so pot metal eventually replaced aluminum. |

Sorry, my mistake, I missed the links.
On my solid aluminum handle the VW emblem is slightly smaller, older looking, and stamped-in (incuse). A maker's script is also stamped in and is hard to read, could be Frivo as well.
On this cast zinc part, the mold was stamped with the script and with a much finer more open and modern looking VW emblem, resulting in raised features on the finished part. I will have to defer to the experts, but IMO this part is likely for immediately after March 1953. |
