Hi there and greetings from damn cold Finland. Just wanted to wish you best of luck with your project. My ´59 kleinbus is under major restore operation, glad to know that I´m not the only one. In Finland there´s only couple of ´59 busses still running.

Thanks man,
Same over here, The cool thing is that i have the complete ownership history all the way back - including the original front licence plate.
It's gonna be a huge project but i reckon that i can do it.

I´ve also tried to get some information of previous owners. My bus came straight to Finland and was used by army. Funny thing is that they don´t tell anything even if I´d send them couple of requests conserning this bus. Now I´m trying to get hold of this former transportation officer who doesn´t serve anymore. Don´t know if he´d be able to give me some info. Have you sent your codes to Wolfsburg museum, I heard that for some small fee they´ll send you all the info they have. Well, anyway it takes time but I think it´s worth it. If you need some technical info I have this 1144 pages of 1950-1962 Transporter workshop manual, I can scan you some pages and send them via e-mail if needed. |

NZ's Good like that, I rang some place - gave them my vin number and they told me everthing, From the first registered owner right through to how many times the odo has gone round the clock (1)
The History is starting to come out of the woodwork now.

I love the look of non-barndoor semiphore busses. They look taller and narrower and not so cluttered up front. |

BTW, that other bus does look like a barndoor. if you zoom in on it, look at the roof. it looks like it has the crease thingie in it from where it comes to a point. |

Sorry to drag up an old topic,
I just found out that the original owner of my bus is still alive,
Thomas Park 'n Co
Thomas park is still alive - in his 80's.
The 59 was owned by a florists from new then sold to Thomas's daughter and her new husband in 1963 - I'm organizing to meet him soon!!

That is one cool bus....love it....RHD and the semaphores. I owned an imported bug tons of years ago with working semaphores. Back then it was a daily driver...I was a dumb kid and sold it. Where do you find a bus this clean? |
