I know ahwile back someone was building a tire a little taller and about as narrow as a 7.00/15. I thought it was closer to a 31-32 inch tall tire. Does anyone recall the manufacturers name? I thought maybe it was Buckshot, but I cannot find anything on on the specific tire. Any input is appreciated.

I just checked the Mickey Thompson site. They list a 30x7.50x15 tire. Looks like a 7.00x15 to me,but what do I know. Later,Mitch.

I see Mickey Thompson actually makes a 31x7.50x15 also. If they only made it in a radial that I could use on the street as well......doooh!

Shmo, I have not run inot any problems with my 7.00x15 bias ply tires on the street. I drive my car daily and handles pretty well, hiway speed is around 75, no complaints yet. Later,Mitch.

I have a set of 7.00x15 (30-inch tall) bias plys that I just removed and am now using as my spares. At the moment I am running a set of radial mud terrains 235/75/15's (29-inch tall).

What I am really looking for is something in the 31+ inch range. There are several tires like this availabe for 16 inch wheels. However, I know I have seen a mud terrain somewhere that was a good inch-plus taller than a 7.00x15 and only slightly wider for use with 15 inch wheels.

isn't there a swamper that is a 34 x 9.50?? a bit taller than you were wanting but should work out ok. i would be running them if my 31's weren't almost like new. they were on there when i bought it though:(

I have a new set of firestones that are close...

ALSO... check into what they have available for Nissan Pathfinders... I'm always scrounging for offroaders... I've gotten some SWEET tires that are a perfect fit in the same sizing... they run 15" rims stock.

You're smarter than me on this stuff -- just a reminder --- stay away from TSL Thornbirds.

If you have a few weeks, I can check our stash of tires to find out makes/sizes... unfortunately it's 100 in MinneSnowta Right now... this makes our storage are 150 degrees.

I am glad you guys bumped this thread back into circulation. I had a chance to do some digging around at a tire store the other day, and here is what I came up with.

For a 15 inch tire these are the only decent options I came up with.
The thing I kept in mind was tall and skinny. Anything that got questionably wide I just passed by.

235/75/15 = 28.87 inches tall and about 9.25 inches wide.

30/9.50/15 = 29.99 inches tall and about 9.50 inches wide

700X15 = 29.4 inches tall and about 7 inches wide
(Bias ply tire. Not the greatest for on highway use)

Now here is what happens when you switch gears into the 16's.

215/85/16 = 30.5 inches tall and about 8.5 inches wide.
(This would be a great front tire size in my opinion)

235/75/16 = 29.87 inches tall and about 9.25 inches wide

7.50x16 = 31.64 inches tall and about 7.5 inches wide
(Bias ply tire. Not the greatest for on highway use)

For my car (money allowing) I am hoping to switch over to 16's and run a 215/85/16 on the front and either a 265/75/16 (31.64 tall x 10.43 wide) or a 285/75/16 (32.83 tall x 11.22 wide)

Anyone interested in some nice, slightly used Baja wheels and tires from my car? They will be going up for sale soon.

Are you selling the 235/75-15 MT's? I might bite on those. Shipping might be a problem though.

I am considering selling all of my current tires and wheels. The fronts are 235/75/15 and rears are 31/10.5/15. They are mounted on chrome modular wheels with good offsets for a Baja. The front tires are showing a little wear, but they still have over 3/4 of their tread left. Everything else is in practially new condition. The rear tires for some reason look like they are brand new. The wheels are still perfect, no chips dings or rust.

Well my plan is to swap out my brake rotors. Currently I have 4-wheel discs with 4-lug VW pattern. I plan to switch to a AC industustries 5-lug rotors. Then, wheels should be fairly simple.

Try to find the lightest wheel you can, because you're putting on some weight with the AC Ind/SoCal discs. I was amazed at what they weighed. Both sides, complete assemblies........70 lbs.

I already have the discs installed. I am just swapping to a different bolt pattern with the rotors. I figured that extra hole in a 5-lug should help lose about a gram of weight....lol

Actually the reason I am heading this way is to save weight with a larger tire. I am installing an H20 motor. With the new motor, I should be able to pull a 33 without even breaking a sweat. So, I plan on stepping into a 16 inch tire and aluminum wheel. That should shed some pounds off the unsprung weight and give me some added beef on the ground at the same time. At least that's the plan.
