| I just bought a 62 from the classifieds last week, I was looking at the title today and noticed it was registered as a 68. the Vin # was cut out way back when and the dmv assigned it an id #. It has a swing axle and king pin front end plus the early heater knob so I guess its not a 68 pan. Is there any other way to tell if the pan is a 62 and how do I go about getting the dmv to change this....thanx for any help |

Chances are, your car will be registered as a 68 from now on. Even if you don't register it for a few years and the current VIN gets dropped from the computer, the DMV will re-assign a new VIN and mark it as a 2005+ model.
If you really want the Beetle to be registered any earlier, you'll need to acquire an early pan with VIN number intact. Then you can swap your Beetles body onto your new pan. |
