Have a stock 79 beetle needing stock exhaust installed. Pretty much the whole thing - heater boxes, connecting pipes and muffler.
I have the parts and need the work done at a shop. Can anyone give me an idea of how many hours this should take and what a typical labor charge might be?
As far as the condition of the car the floor pans and related and heater channels have just been redone. I KNOW the heater boxes need replacing and assume doing other exhaust may need to be done and/or may be a good idea. So I'm asking the question based on heater boxes, muffler and directly related.
Honestly, for all I know it could be $200 or $1000, any ballpark figure(s) should help me. Thanks! |

First off it depends on the labor rate. Seeing that you're in the North East assume you're paying $60-$90 per hour.
Then it depends of the old system can be taken apart or if it has to be cut out because all the bolts are rusted. Then there's the exhaust port studs. If they are rusted and snap... it requires them to be drilled and tapped... it could take hours.
So... $200 to $1000 is in the ball park. |
