Hi Group,
Ok, here's my dilemma. I'm in the process of restoring a 67. The car needs new pans, rear luggage shelve, repairs made to the front firewall support on the pan, heater channel repair, a new front clip (from mid gas tank..out) and rear apron work.
I may be able to get a 66 that needs a complete front end ( from the doors out), but from the hinges and back it is in really good condition. It has very good pans, doors, engine and trunk lid, all OG.
I do have a front clip from a 65 in very good condition, but, it has been cut at the mid gas tank point, so I can't use it on the 66.
I don't have a problem with cutting out parts on the 66 and installing them into the 67, but, it would seem to be a shame to cut out the floors of a perfectly good chassis and to just reinstall them into another one.
I know the 67 is a one year only item, but, where the car stands now, the only change I have to make right now to convert it to a 66, is to replace the rear apron( since evrything else has been removed).
Should I keep the car a 67 or change it to a 66??? Would this be sacrilegious??? |

Certainly at some point it comes down to personal choice. That being said, I'd go with the option that keeps the most vehicles & parts usable & available...It's a shame to cut up a good car, if there's some other way you can find parts to use otherwise. But if you want a 66 instead of a 67, then go for it... |
