i was following a porsche boxer. the rear wheels appear to have negative camber like a lowered swing axel beetle (top of wheel tilted in). it is my understanding that this improves traction during hard cornering by restoring the camber closer to zero on the outside wheel :?: . i read that this does not cause premature tire wear. how can this be? any input on this subject? |

I think the reason the beetle's tires wear quickly is a comnbination of offset camber & toe in caused when you lower it. Because if you think about it, the torsion plates are a set lenght, so at stock height the toe in would be set right, when you change the articulation of the rear wheel it sits further forward causing toe in.
Thats just my understanding of it, I could be VERY wrong. |
