My front calipers on my 72 squareback needs a rebuild and a good long soak in a parts washer, can I use the front calipers from my 71 fastback on the 72?

Probably not. The backing plate, caliper, pads, and (I think) steering knuckle are different, due to the wider bolt spacing on the '72-up caliper.

I put an entire front axle from a '72 on my '71, and it came with the later (bigger) brake hardware. Butyou can't mix/match parts.

I just went through this with my '73. 1971 calipers will not fit your '72 as yours are larger with a different bolt pattern. New calipers are pricey and not readily available. However, rebuild kits are easily found, which in my opinion is the way to go unless your calipers are damaged.
