Anyone have any opinions on these products. I have used Por 15 but along time ago. I keep receiving Eastwood catalogs and they have the rust encapsulator which of course they claim is better. |

Take a look at Master Series that's sold here on the Samba by Chuck Pisconski.

Chuck is a hardcore VW guy and is as honest as they come. |

I've been using the Rust Encapsulator for a couple years now and have been happy with it so far. It seems to hold up better and is much easier to use than POR 15.
I've posted on this before. Try a search for "Rust Encapsulator" in this forum to see more of what I've written.
I would certainly consider trying the Master Series product now that I know Chuck sells it.

Never have treid Rust Encapsulator but I did buy two cans from chuck this summer.
Por 15 has been very good to me, I used some on a heavy rusted floor 10 years ago and its hold up nice. I even had standing water on it over the winter. I used it with a brush than misted primer over it and coverd it with auto paint. So far it passed the ten year test. por 15 with out top coat has not faid that weel with me. it seems to get lots of littel bubbles. |

I've had mixed results with por 15. I had stripped a front floor of a 1960 bus with a few holes. After using por15 i swear the hole seemed to get bigger over time as if the por15 had enclosed the rust but it was still rusting within the paint. other than that it was top notch on the non-rusty cargo floors of the same bus. |

This is kinda an old thread but I saw following article and thought that it might be some help:

I like Rust Encapsulator for its ease of use... POR requires more prep steps... |

That comparison article was enlightening. I've used POR 15 extensively on my VWs with good results that have held up over time, but I have also seen the issues of "solvent pop" and "rust creep" that were a little disappointing. I'll be looking for the Eastwood product now, I like that its available in an aerosol for small spot jobs. |

I've used POR15 for quite a few restorations over the years, so far so good. I see some people have had some application problems, but I find if it's done right, I can expect at least 10 years of No Rust. I have had some bubbles and fisheye surface once in a while, but after I go back and actually clean the part of grease or whatever, the way it's supposed to be, it sticks just fine. I usually brush it on, but if you need a real pretty surface, you can shoot it as well. |
