Our Show is a family event in support of a very worthy cause – The Jamison Children’s Center http://www.co.kern.ca.us/dhs/jamison_childrens_center.asp. This is our 3rd year of supporting them. Each year we hand over a larger check than the year before. Last year it was over $3300.00.
Our Show is located at Hart Park http://www.co.kern.ca.us/parks/hart.htm . It has trees, grass, picnic tables and Lake Ming http://www.co.kern.ca.us/parks/ming.htm where you can camp http://www.co.kern.ca.us/parks/krcamp.htm . And it is located by the nearby California Living Museum http://www.calmzoo.org/ - both of which are great for the children.
We have bounce houses, face painting and cotton candy for the children. Children from the Jamison Center will also be there to enjoy the day! Also scheduled is the Kern County Smoke House - it is a demonstration trailer for fire safety. The CHP is scheduled to bring out one of their motorcycles and their new unmarked camaro chase car.
Food will be provided by The Pantry or bring your own.
Our raffle prizes aren’t too bad either: Leather recliner (~$900.00), tires (set of four 165R15’s), wheels, tow bar for bus or narrow beamed car (more will be available for sale the day of the Show), man’s bike, woman’s bike and other misc. items. Yet to be determined will be: an assortment of drop down DVD players, stereos, speakers, amps, car alarms from Mobile Audio Concepts. Hopefully, I can get a picture of the raffle prizes up on The Samba soon!
Our sponsors are Mobile Audio Concepts, Shell Oil, EMPI, WCM, Kern River Cogeneration, Sunrise Power Company, Sycamore Cogeneration, Mercy SW Birthing Family and everyday citizens.
Our German Dreams 4th Annual VW Show Off isn’t a huge Show and that is OK. If you want some good company, have some fun and want to help support these disadvantaged children - then come on out! |

I think I just might go check out the show. I went once before as a spectator it was an enjoyable day. They have a very shady park setting. right on the river. I've been wanting to check out the camping in the area for a future camping & kayaking adventure. |

Still trying to get my Shift covered at work for that night, if not the OC Cruise may be the alternative. |

Here is a link to a map showing where the show will be at:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=bakersfield&ll=3...&hl=en
Look for Kern River County Park to the upper right of Bakersfield. The map is interactive so you can zoom in and out and get directions (see blue link at top of page in the middle). Use the address: 9358 Alfred Harrell Hwy Bakersfield, CA 93308, US. This will get you to the entrance of Hart Park. Follow the signs to the Show which is located on the East side of the Park. Don't worry, you'll see us! :D
