I had the windshield replaced in my '78 Westy yesterday. The old one has the normal pitting from years of use, and has two small stone chip stars (less than dime-size), but is otherwise OK. It has VW/Audi markings on it. I had it done because my insurance covered it, and I got a new seal in the process.
Anyway, if someone would like the old windshield, it's yours for the asking (via PM). I'm not sure how I'd package it up for shipment and it might not be worth the cost, but if you have suggestions and want to pay for the shipping, I'll give it a try. Or, stop by and pick it up.
If yours is horribly cracked/broken, and $$$ are tight, this might be an alternative until you can get a new one.
The original seal is still on it, in fair condition (hard and cracked on the outside).
If nobody wants it I guess I'll try to recycle it (will the recycle places take laminated auto glass?).
