I live quite literally in a redwood forest. I just got a car cover because the trees are gonna ruin my paint!! Any little bit they drop bleeds red and I've spent hours rubbing the stuff off. Soap and water doesn't lift it. I've waxed the car and that helps too. But if anyone has a method for lifting the redwood stains off their car, I'd sure like to hear it. I'm hesitant to try Simple Green on my paint. I tried it on the wall inside my house before trying it on my engine compartment as someone suggested. It took the paint right off the wall!

have you tried detailers clay? it geets just about any contaminent off of your paint. You can get it at paint or auto part stores

No I haven't tried that. I'll give that a shot. I also found that a dry, soft bath towel, used gently and carefully worked nicely too.

try the clay bar known as clay magic. it comes in diffrent grades. then try using a detailer spray, i know it gets sap off because i had that problem in AZ on some custom paint jobs. when you do get the problem resolved use some 3m hand glaze wiping the product on then wiping it off with an extremely soft cloth 1 panel at a time. you can also use a waterbourne cleaner from the paint store.

I was going to start a new topic but it looks like I am not the only one who has to deal with this.

Clay bar doesn't cut it, it bleeds into the paint. Clay is good at lifting contamination, but redwood seeds are more like die. You can probably use it for coloring eggs for easter.

The only thing I found to work on this stuff is mirror glaze on cotton rag and by hand not on polisher. It seems a bit aggressive since it's a cutting compound, but no detergent, nor clay bar is able to lift this stuff.

If anybody has any suggestions I am open to try new stuff. So far it takes about 1 hour to do the roof, hood and backend, basically all the horizontals and wax about 1 hour. that is not counting the wash. Oh and it's a fastback for a reference, so your timing maybe different depending on severity and vehicle, bus, squareback would be longer and beetle maybe less, although fenders and rear adds up.
