Use some sort of a prybar to get the shocks to slide off. Most likely you'll be left with the inner metal sleeve stuck on which you'll need to file/lubricate/remove with vise-grips as the above posts describe.
Yes, vise-grips always worked for me on this problem. |

| Holly shit. I was just trying to put on some coil overs last night and came across the same problem. I was thinking they sent me the wrong shocks. I've been on every web site this morning looking at specs for shocks, and schematics on a front suspension of a bus. Thank you samba for having this thread. I was about ready to buy some more shocks! |

Awesome! I just receive some new shocks and went to fit one of the fronts and the bottom would just not go on. WTF!!
I love the Samba. I thought I'd ordered the wrong part. Glad to hear I just need to get stuck in and she'll fit just fine. |
