Oh I have this, lets combine it with this.. GREAT IDEA

Other than that, I see only one other reason, why people "should" do this: have a bus back crashed and a Ghia front crashed and weld together the two good halves. :D :D :D

It was the prototype for this:

And another take on the volksrod, VW engine in front!

Put a small engine in the trunk and some chain-drive mower blades under it, you've got yourself the first Volkswagen lawnmower!

Interesting. The one thing I find hardest to come to terms with in this thread, is how often it's ovals that are butchered to make things like this - how often have we seen VW's prettiest rear window cut off and discarded? I know often at the time these were just old cars, but some are much more modern builds. Start with a late car if you're going to cut it up past the point of no return (I like late cars but if you don't NEED an oval, don't use one)!

OK this is a DKW Munga. That suspension is VW though, sure that's not how it left the factory!

I think that a lot of it is arrogance and showing off: "Check it out, I have so much VW stuff that I can afford to hack up a rare bug!"

Kind of like those cultures where members gain status by acquiring valuables and then ostentatiously destroying them. #-o

This is kind of badass, I could see it used in an old episode of The A-Team

I missed that one. It must have some serious weight on that front fork and tire!

There are a lot of cut up and left for dead beetle shells laying around. If I was looking to build a rod like this, and I found a 56 beetle that had been hacked to shit already, I wouldn't hesitate to use it. They can't all be restored to perfection.

It's an art exhibit

Quote: Art or (he)art attack? "Der fette Würstelstand" (The Fat Brat Stall) is the name of the latest masterpiece of Austrian artist Erwin Wurm, which we saw in front of the Wolfsburg art museum today.
