no belly pans, cargo doors looked like they wouldn't close or something...

Live, it was mentioned 3 or 4 times that it was a creation, "kits are available" "like a yanko clone" "no harm no foul"

“No harm or no foul” or the “the car doesn’t know it isn’t” is the line they always use.😄

This just hammered at $75,000. ‘73 Brazilian 23 conversion, no belly pans. MotorTrend announcers did decent job mentioning those details.

Who pays that much scratch for an unfinished clone with shitty droopy curtains, no headliner and wrinkly ugly seats covers? Even if you don't know squat about buses, it's obvious that it is a low quality job.

Exactly. We worry not, for those buyers are not VW people. They live only for Botox and Starbucks.

Is that an effin power cable of some sort running (read: sagging) along the driver side? Couldn't they have tried to "church up" this turd a little?

Did they glue in those skylights?!

Braukuche Mon Apr 15, 2019 7:52 am

They didn't even bother to weld in a skylight clip. They just cut holes in the sheet metal and tarred them in.
If you can get that much for such shit work why would anyone bother to spend more to do it right, unless you have self respect.

I could be wrong, but I believe the guy in the blue shirt with the bidder number around his neck is the one that bought it

I guess somebody wanted it bad enough.

I was watching it because the $65 starting price was fair. :)

$588... WTF.

Looks like 2 people went crazy against each other at the end but there were bids at $335 and $400 too so damn!

Inspired this fellow to list one starting at $500
https://www.ebay.com/itm/VW-Tool-MATRA-Steering-Wh...:rk:7:pf:0

Didn't work, now he has relisted it at $480
https://www.ebay.com/itm/283410126986?ViewItem=&vxp=mtr&item=283410126986

It finally sold at $281

More like 'tard them in...

The bigger 'tard is the one who dropped $80k for it.
