my 58 beetle has a squeak upfront when either one of the front wheels is going over a bumper. is this a bad shock or a grease fitting that needs to have lube injected into it?

put grease in all the zerk fittings and drive around. then put more grease in. if it still sqeaks its a shock or something else.

thanks jason, i think thats probabyl what is is. the car is so solid and drives great. the front axle/beam is trouble free othehr wise. i'll do this soon snd let you know how it goes

question..do i fill the zerk fittings like any other...pump the lube in to i see a little backing out?

Juan,
Yeah I disappeared but was here all the time, just didnt have anything to say or ask for a while.
Yes the car is done except for the headliner which I need to do when it gets warmer.
I drove the car two days ago. I am now restoring a original roof rack. Its almost done.
Photos coming soon

Don't forget, you MUST jack up the front of the car to allow the grease to penetrate. I believe in greasing until fresh gease comes out of the joints. This "changes" the grease instead of just topping it up. Then wipe the excess grease off of the axle to clean things
