View original topic: Ignition Switch Help

I recently purchased a new dash pod, ignition switch terminal and key cylinder from Kaefer Nostalgie for my dad's split. I had installed it all and was getting power to the coil. Car would start no problem then while attempting to test drive it, every time I pushed in the brake and let off the engine would turn off as if the power to the coil was getting cut. I tested the coil with the key on and no power to it. I am getting power to the bus bar that goes from the headlight switch to the black ignition switch bucket. I am also getting 6v power to the regulator. The switch was installed in its correct orientation.

I hooked up my voltage meter to the terminal on the ignition bucket that the coil wire goes to and if I rotate the key back and forth, I can find the sweet spot where I get power to that terminal; however, the key won't stay in that position and it cuts the power. I also get power to the coil if I jump the bus bar to the coil wire terminal. My question is what is the proper way to adjust the three-prong terminal that sits on the back of the key cylinder and in the ignition bucket? The engine cutting and brake issue is bizarre and I'll have to figure that out later but I figure to start at step one and at least get power to the coil. I appreciate any help!
