It's been 18 months since Doc passed and I started to think it would nice to have a pup around again. Some van friends in Grand Junction foster dogs for the local shelter and had brought this guy home. We exchanged a few texts and she had said she wanted him to go to someone they knew so they could see him again. I drove the Westy over for a visit and came home with Canik. He's about a year old, super mellow, and should be a great traveling companion. Thanks Erin and Aaron!

Lost my buddy just before Thanksgiving. Not sure I’m ready for a new one yet. Thanks for posting your new guy. Reminded me how much I miss him. He was part of my life for 17 years. Helped build and use my van.

I used to think that it was extraordinarily unfair that dogs had such short lives compared to ours. I've decided that our longer lives allow us to provide good lives to more dogs. I personally feel that people who abuse animals should get the same treatment as for abusing humans.

Cat person myself...here in this thread for the vans, but mtnhome's comment reminded me of this wisdom "One can tell everything that one needs to know about a person by how they treat animals."

Its been well over 10 years since Ive been able to participate again on this thread. Last two labs passed away in 2015, started having kids so now they are at the age they can appreciate having a dog

This is Daisy Dog. She just loves riding in the bus. I cannot leave a door open or she'll jump in and willl not leave until we go for a ride someplace.

Buck went on his first extended trip last week (2200 miles to Florida and back). I don’t think he’s letting the van move without him moving forward.

Rocket, waiting on when we'll included him on our Chicken Salad at Lunch.

Know the feeling. This is Annie in our van which had just been unloaded at the end of a trip.

RIP Annie.

This is a 2012 photo of then-new dog Annie riding in the Westy, what we call her cheesecake pose. Had to say goodbye to both recently; the van was crushed by a falling tree last month and Annie had to be put down yesterday. It's been a tough few weeks. No plans to replace either one right now but you never know.

So very sorry for your recent losses. Especially Annie. Never an easy choice but often the last great favor you can do for a best friend.

I realised that this one hasn't graced this thread, yet. The previous canines were all represented since 2008, even though photobucket prevented their lasting images.

Meet Roja. We rescued her from a puppy mill that was shut down back in 2000. She was a breeder. We think she was about a year old at that time. She loves traveling west with us in the summer, and has adjusted to "life on the outside" very well.

And she loves doing stand-up (lie-down?) comedy.
