Hi,
Do all/some vanagons have power brakes? If so, where is the brake fluid reservoir? Same about power steering? |

You must be a third level mason to have the secret of the brake fluid resevoir revealed to you. I will break the rules and tell you... Sit in the driver's seat, gaze at the speedo/tach cluster, reach to the back of the cover. You will find two secret depressions.. say the secrect words, "god I hope this dosent break", and lift up and toward you. It should pop off, and rotate and lift twoard you. pull it off and set it aside. There is a clear plastic dust cover the also just lifts off. Between the speedo and tach, you will find the brake fluid resevoir.
The power steering is in the engine compartment, passenger side. The resevoir is on the rear wall and has a red cap (on mine). The pump is directly in front of the resevoir.
Have fun, get the manual

I found my brake fuild reservoir entirely by accident. I hope this doesn't mean that I'll have to be killed
I also found what appeared to be 20+ year old brake fluid inside.  (Yes, I've flushed it out and put in new stuff.) |

I recently recieved, via secret source the EKTA (Electronic Parts Catalog) program. Defiantly need to be a grand Master for that. I whish I had that from the beginning.
Oh, their not waving at you, it is the secret sign.
The van is like one of thoes secret boxes. Push here to reveal the secret door there. Just figuring out which coolent hoses to order is a big task. Keeps me out of the bars at night.
Cheers,

I am fortunate enough to have both the EKTA program, and the predicessor to it, all of the micro fishe stuff from a dealership.. Covers all VW's from 1960-1990.. Even came with the machine to read them... |
