Anyone ever tried a micathermic heater? I would like to try and have something like this and have it run off of a dedicated battery. The info on these (this is only one version) says they draw a minimal amout of power. I guess the radiant heat is very good.

Hi, it all depends on the insulation. If the area is well insulated then an oil radiator will do a good job and run efficiently if it has a thermostat. However on a poorly insulated space convection heating is not efficient, there you will need radiant heat (so you don't heat the air which will "flow away" at poor insulation.
That said I prefer micathermic heaters because they provide both radiant and convection heating so they are more versatile than oil-filled ones, and also faster to heat up and safer than other radiant heaters like IR heaters. I use
Micathermic panel heater from Delonghi (http://electric-heaters-review.com/delonghi-mica-panel-heater-review) and I am absolutely satisfied with it. |

You'll never be able to run any heater off of a dedicated battery. They simply require too much power and even large house batteries don't really have that much power. Do the math. |

So what you are saying is they need a different approach? |
