Can anyone post a picture of the original pole bag please.
Was there only one design or was it a case of different designs with the different door flap pattern?

Martin, check out this thread. This shows the only three different front awnings I know of. Which one do you have?? Sorry can't help you with the pole bag. I friend got a big top last summer also, his pole bag I think was original and a vinyl type material. Do you have the original tent bag? What about the stake and peg bag? If you do post some pics. I'd love to see them.

I have my original pole bag, early 67 tent. It is badly faded coated canvas material. The closest available replacement material is a medium blue sunbrella fabric, and that is what my mother used when she sewed up a replacement bag. I think the blue of the original bag was a bit more drab than what we used to replace it, but I could not find anything on the market that was that exact color.
The problem with these bags is they just aren't a very heavy material, and there is a lot of weight in the bag with all the poles. Plus the poles are pointed on the bottom and it just rips the bottom of the bag out, even though the bottom is double layered. If you wanted to avoid that, you could sandwich a piece of plastic in the bottom to spread out the strain on the nylon from the points of the poles. I was thinking that a good material would be that thin plastic stuff that 3 ring binders are sometimes made of. Flexible enough for a bag, tough, and cheap.
PM me if anyone needs a photo of my pole bag and replacement bag. It is buried but I will dig it out and photo it if necessary |

I have what you have but it appears to me to be a coated canvas. |

| I'm with Jim, based on the things I've seen they used left over material for bags. Martin, PM gunter his name is Steve, he has an original bag just like Craig's. BTW, Craig's tent has the best front awning!!!!!!!!!! IMO I'll get a pick posted of my og tent bag sometime this wknd or by Mon. |

Yeah, coated canvas would describe it accurately. I just took a look at a torn place. The inside of the bag is of charcoal gray colored vinyl/rubber covering a cloth fabric latice under the blue vinyl/rubber of the exterior. It's familiar -- like older foul weather raincoats used by commercial fishermen, but I can't think of a modern comparision. I tried, but I didn't get a good picture of the tear in the fabric. |

I'll take a pic of my original bag for you tomorrow. I just got the Dormobile out from winter storage. :) The material I believe is the same as the bottom of the tent. The stake bag is a yellow nylon canvas material that is not the same color or material that the tent is made from.

The pictures of my tent bag are in the gallery. Don't know how to post them here. The bag is the exact same material as the bottom of my tent.
There is no inside fabric attached. It is just the same blue material as on the outside bottom of the tent..
Not the best material for holding the poles.

Very cool awning, not as common as the repro style. You did good!! Your tent bag is og, the same as mine.
So how much is The Baron going to ask, is the production going to happen??? I might be interested in just the canvas w/ no poles.. Thanks for the pics.. |
