I installed a new Valve Body yesterday and I've had a persistent leak that has eluded me.
I finally found it!
Those stupid Orings on the cooler Banjo bolts!
I had installed the solid state cooler that VanCafe sells a few years ago.
The supplied Orings had gone rock hard and no longer sealed effectively!
An hour of work, a few Orings out of my parts bins and a smear of Hylomar for good luck and all is well! (I love my Hylomar Blue!)

I'm getting rid of my Autotrans Cooler.
I'm installing a B&M Supercooler 70264, which has a stacked plate design. While doing reconnaissance for an appropriate mounting spot near the radiator, the cooler dropped. One of the fluid ports bent. Oops.
Any opinions if this cooler can still be used? Any way for me to test? Anyone know if the fluid nipples should point down (to the road) or up (to the sky)?

As a general rule of thumb, heat rises, cold sinks.
Without instructions I would plumb it so the hot fluid enters at the top and exits the bottom.

Hi Dave,
Unfortunately, both fluid ports are on the same side.
At this moment, I feel like I'll put both ports on the bottom side (toward the road).
It will fit the space better and make the ATF runs cleaner.
Thanks for the reply.

some will argue but you're asking a LOT from that transmission pump.
rule of thumb is to keep it as close to the trans as possible.
this is what i did on my build

trying to tie up loose ends i set out to get the trans cooler dialed in which involved making hoses and brackets. i spent more on the -6AN fittings than i did the cooler and thermostat
i'd monitor pressure drop. that's a real long run.
in terms of the tweeked fitting, i personally wouldn't use it. it's probably ok, but my luck would be such that it would blow out at the worse possible time |

You guys think this combo would be as good as AN style fittings?
Seems about half the price than the small car kit (which is awesome on its own accord) |
