howdy ya'all
wondering what years would fit my 1967 BUG ???? up front
my hood is creased from overstuffing the front gas area and im prepping the car to get a cheapy paint job from earl shieb , there is a pick and pull junk yard near my house that im sure has NO early models , but some late models.... im thinking put a 68 hood with the funky vents and paint it back to the original color (black)
also do you know where i can get some fenders safely
i once ordered fenders back in the 90's and they came needing body work after unwrapping them...
do you know a safe shipper ? |

67 hoods are one year only hoods. 62-66 hoods will work but need the chrome trim holes filled in and redrilled so the narrow 67 trim will fit. |

I was going to say, "I got the hood that's on my 58 from a 67". It even has the wide trim with the German crest on it. That means it originally came from an early model.
Bill said it even more concise. |

So not to jack an old thread.. But is this saying there is absolutely NO way a post 68 hood will fit on a pre 67 beetle? Today I smacked a deer with my 66 and all I can seem to find is post 68 hoods for sale... Any help would be appreciated.. |

68-> hoods are squared off and cut short at the front edge and use a different latch and front apron. To use one of them on a 66 you would have to at least update the front apron 68-> too.
Not only that but there would be the large fresh air ventilation grille up near the windshield to weld and fill otherwise its going to let rain and water into your trunk.
Bottom line, it's not worthy |

Had a 67 once upon a time, One year only body. Keep it correct. |

I have just had a new hood installed on my 67 cabrio (accident repair / car in front reversed into me). But the new hood looks a little too wide at the hinges, and while it bolts on fine, it allows quite a big gap between the rear lip of the hood and the bodywork in front of the screen. Anyone faced this problem? Reputable classic VW repair workshop, and otherwise seems like the right hood: any way I can tell? [Apologies if hijacking this thread!] |

I’m actually having the same problem I think. The back of the hood is sitting up about 1/4”. It fit good when I took it off. I’ve read on here before that there is a little bit of adjustment in the pivot bolt but I can’t imagine it being 1/4” anyone else run into this head scratcher? I’ll try to get a pic posted shortly |
