Randy,

Is the "sending block" something that's specific to the DD gauges because they're digital? When I look for CHT senders, online, they seem to be only showing a photo of the bi-metal ring with two leads tailing off.

It is a little junction block that takes the short sender wires and ties them into the 18' cable taking it up to the dash. You cannot use "regular 14 gauge" wire for it they say if you want it to be accurate. I don't know if it is a thermocouple or not.

It is different than the VDO cable also.

I concur.

The VDO Black Cockpit gauges, are probably one of the most attractive style, whilst being clear and easy to read. Many other gauge styles are brash and gaudy.

When I have fathomed out how to do it, I intend to replace my factory-stock instrument panel, with a custom-made instrument panel, incorporating two Lucas 60 mm diameter, 8-segment warng-light clusters, plus VDO Black Cockpit style speedometer, tachometer, vacuum gauge, fuel indicator, etc., in addition to my existing VDO Black Cockpit supplementary gauges.

I've included a few pics of my gauge installation.

I made a drill template to locate the holes evenly.

Then using another template, I cut the dash material.

Then using a 2 1/16 holes saw the metal was removed

This is sort of an old post, but as some of you are aware, Phil sent his gauge template to me knowing that I would loan it out to people installing the three 2 1/16" gauges under the radio location.
