| So there I was. I took the bus out on the interstate for some high speed runs to make sure that it wouldn't break on the way to Manassas next weekend. About 35 minutes into the drive, the shifter popped out of 4th at about 70 so I got off at the next exit. Now I can push it wih the engine off like it's in neutral, but when I fire the motor up, all of the gears are gone and it bogs the motor down and kills it like it's still in gear. When I try to get it into anything, it's grinding and then it dies. I just replaced all of the shifter linkage from the nosecone forward and all was good until today. I guess I'll be yanking the motor and tranny to try to get it fixed before next weekend. I really don't want to have to drive the wifes car up there....Damn, I'm pissed right now!!! |

| Man that sounds exactly what mine did. The man bearing under the nose cone came apart. Did you have any indications something was wrong up to that point? I heard load whirring sound and then it wouldn't go into gear. When I pulled it apart there where pieces of the bearing all over. |

You need to recheck both couplers and the front shifting shaft. First, though, drain the oil out of the centersection and see if there is any metal in it.
The rebuilt freeway flyer I bought from Transform over a year ago (one or two months before the old fart retired and closed the transmission part of the business, as it turned out) that I finally put in one of my buses two weeks ago with RGBs that I had rebuilt, lasted all of six miles. :x |

| I just got done pulling the tranny. The forward plug fell out (along with all of the oil) so that one's toast. There's not just metal shavings when I still my finger in the hole, there's metal chunks. I guess I need to get hot on finding another tranny before next weekend. |

How is it that the plug "fell out"? :? |

| I'm not sure how it "fell out", but it was fine yesterday, and today when it exploded, the drain plug was gone and all of the oil that was supposed to be inside the tranny was all over underneath the bus and the plug was nowhere to be found. Maybe it wasn't tight (like I thought it was) and rattled itself loose. |
