View original topic: BerT3's dropped spindles
BerT3 Fri May 26, 2006 11:43 am

Hello,

Finally after 4 years I have a suitable test car for my own fabricated dropped spindles.

Bought a '66 T34 some time ago and decided to test run a pair of my spindles on the car.

Took me some hours to put them on.

Took advantage of the car being on axle stands to renew the entire front brake system and upgrading to a dual circuit master cylinder with new calipers, hoses etc...

Removed the bottom bumpstop in case I want to go lower.

For the moment it's just sock height with the spindles on.

I like the stance with the stock size rims and new oem spec. tires.

Next week I gonna have the front train aligned.

I have enough cores to make some other sets. I will have 2 sets available to overseas customers.

For details check www.BerT3.be - accept downloading the .doc to read the pages.

UHH, I think it's missing a tire. The rim only really lowers the front end. :D I'd still like a set of those. I know they work. If I sent you a set of core spindles, would it save me a core charge?

That's the main idea yes.

I have 4 pair of cores myself. which I am planning to have made in the next month.

Photos next week. Otherwise check old threads and photos under my nickname at this very forum !

Bob, it looks like it's scraping the inside of the rim...thus the problem

It isn't though.

At least 1 inch space.
It's because of the top vieuw photo !

I can take some photos of it installed next week.

did you have a certified welder weld that, looks like a fair bit of undercut and lack of weld material,by the cad plated piece
I know in canada that if there is not a red seal interprovincial ticket you can't use any modified parts,or you are personally liable as a driver
I personally would hate to loose everything ,I worked hard for ,for lack of a certified tradesman
my 2c

It indeed looks like it; It's because there is a kind of a logoon in the bottom piece. Hence why it looks underwelded.

Both halves where heated in a smiss oven before welding though.

They are bolted through with one M10 and one M12 bolt for safety

Same over here as with any non stock parts !

We just have new laws regarding tuning over here.

We even have to have a certificate for a non stock steering wheel !

Finally a photo

Front:

145/65 tires on a 4.5" lemmertz rim with ET 25 and an extra 10mm added wide of the 42mm dropped spindles.

Added an extra 1 outer spline drop at the front trailing arms.

Makes it possible to use new standard height shocks due to almost it's entire stock travel.

Rear:

165/65 tires on a 4.5" lemmertz rim with ET 25

I found this the perfect stance with lots of room and comfort

Note these are both expensive tires !

Got any more of those 4.5" Sprints you care to part with?

Aren't those common in the USA ?

Not much choice for 4 lug cars in a decent offset.

Tried rivieras etc ... All a bad offset.

Stock ET value of 46 is the best. Not much space underneath a lowered T34.

and you are doing what with them -- hoarding them? I'll take 2 and 2, thank you... Three sets. One set of 5 painted 5.5"s with OG center caps. One set of nice original chrome 2 - 4.5" and 2 - 5.5" with OG center caps. One set of ratty/rusty chrome 2 -4.5" and 2 - 5.5" with no caps. Just trying to decided what to do with them all. Also have two sets of polished 8 spokes and a set of 5 Baja Marathon rims all with center caps. I've got more money tied up in accessories than I have in any car.
