I picked up this 1969 about a year ago. I don't know for sure but it looks like it was built in the 80's or 90's. It was not running and had been suffering from a lot of neglect. It has went through several owners and even ended up on a used car lot at one time according to the guy I got it from. The paint and interior have survived very well. It has four wheel disc brakes, fiberglass flip open front end, wide fiberglass rear fenders, filled exhaust cutouts, underside of car as well as transmission and engine block are painted to match, spun aluminum gas tank, welded drop spindles, aftermarket pop up sun roof, chrome bolt in roll bar, one piece door glass, VDO gauges in fiberglass dash, Procar seats, big stereo, baby turbo mirrors, 1915 engine with 40IDF's, merged exhaust, deep sump, full flow oil system and unknown internals. I got it running and got everything working as it should but I am pretty much leaving it as it was built. I did however remove the hubcaps and trim rings and painted the wheels a copper color.

You got me. I was pretty young and didn't like that style of paint but it did seem to be popular on a lot of VWs. |

Best thread on the whole Samba..
Back in about '98 or so, my friend and I decided to build him an '80s Style Cal Looker,
So even way back then we were preserving the look..
Still have the car, drive it all the time.
Decklid Standoffs Forever!!!!

Looks like IDA's, two step MSD, etc. I bet its got some good heads and internals too. Would be a great project if it were closer... |

So the first picture is mine, which I still have. This was done in the late 80's. The rest of the pics are from a couple shows in Canada in 90 or 91.
Enjoy.

Simon used to live down the street from me. He had a zwitter and a euro 60 vert. There was also 3 or 4 og paint ovals and an original paint 23 in his yard. His brothers. I would never of thought he would get rid of the ghia. I went with him to pick that motor up. It was a 1776 he bought from so cal imports. Probably in 1995. |

I think I have photos of that car from a Bug show in Calgary in the early 90s. |
