Trying to identify just what distributor, points and rotor (cap too) these are.
Installed in a 40 hp 1200 1965 T1 I bought. Note the rotor is a stubby one (no tail) and fits on the 14mm shaft of the distributor.. The points are 2 piece and have a rather large insulated part. (Also, the contacts are to the left whereas most I've seen are to the right.) The normal parts listing for a 65 won't fit this distributor.
Anyone with part no's or any info? (Sorry for the fuzzy picture.)
Thanks, barrettbug

Find the part numbers stamped on the side of the dizzy and post them here.

That's the problem.. I've had the distributer out, cleaning, greasing it, etc. and there is NO NUMBERS ANYWHERE on this thing...

Oh... did a search on the net and looked in a bosch part listing from
Http.collectorsautosupply.com/tune-up.htm

yep! infor I was looking for there (1962-1967 VW)
dist # 113 905 205B (points I have fit this one)
or 126 905 205
So, they are Bosch

That distributor was actually made by VW. It's not very popular because tune up parts are difficult to come by.

that rotor actually looks like a 25 horse rotor... I seen one today and I was like Wow thats super small and thats about right is the cap like short and kinda bubbley like really curvy compared to like a 009?

glutamodo, I have read that this was a VW made distributor too... You are the first to confirm this...
Don't remember where I read it, but sure it was here on the web somewhere...
collectorsautosuply.com/tune-up.htm has been the ONLY source I've found for these tune-up parts as of yet... I will contact them and see what they have in stock... will order extra if they do...

The info about the factory VW distributor is in the large Bentley VW 1200 Workshop Manual. We had one or two of these in our box o'distributors in the shop I used to work at. One of them had part of an original part number sticker on it. I'm guessing VW used poor quality stickers to label these parts and that's why you almost never find any part numbers on these things. I think we also had an old-stock distrib. cap or two for these, but no other tune up parts.

From the Bentley, I'm not going to scan any more than this but here is some of the info:

Andy, That's the baby!
Just wonder if the manual you have also gives the part numbers for the tune-up parts?
Thanks for scanning and posting that..

Nope, sorry no part numbers listed at all. I'd have scanned them if they had been in there.

However I cracked open the Car of the Century book and found these numbers, they are VW numbers though, and I don't know what Bosch #'s (or even if Bosch ever made any) for parts to fit those units.

cap: 211 905 207
points 111 998 061
condensor 211 905 295

no number for the rotor was listed

thanks Andy
Have found a source for the tune-up parts..ordered 2 each...if they come in correct, good to go for at least 2 tune-up periods... Someday, I may end up changing out the distributor...
