State Farm. My agent is Skip Leonard in downtown Santa Cruz, but they're good. They'll only do liability, though, since it's so hard to calculate value on these things. Oh, they also won't do it if that's their only vehicle with them. Mine is a second vehicle.
I'll talk to you later this weekend anyway,

my buddy had HAGERTY on his custom 67 Camaro. It's a collector car company. He paid $250 something a year for $18k full coverage. No mileage or use limits and all they wanted was pics of the car.
If you go to their site and get a quote for a 69 vw dune buggy it's about $233 a year for 15K coverage, so pretty close to my buddies camaro. It's more of an "agreed value" type of company.
I'm not ready yet for inurance for my buggy, but, I'd give it a try if I were you.
Also, they give insurance on uncompleted projects!! |

I just got covered by State Farm. I don't have any other vehicles insured with them. The agent also has a dune buggy so I think that may have helped. |

I guess I'll try calling a different Progressive agent. I called Progressive and talked to them about insurance for my street legal fiberglass VW buggy...she told me, in no uncertain terms, that "No way" would they give me even the minimum required liability for it....she said, "absolutely no way! You can't drive a dune buggy on the street and we won't cover it!"...I explained to her exactly what the car is, and that it is street legal and licensed, and has been for 40 years. It is a Meyers Manx. I told her that I have had no tickets in more than 20 years. She was very rude and actually hung up on me.
The reason I needed to find another insurance company in the first place was that I moved 30 miles...to another state, (Oregon), with different laws.
I presently have Farmers insurance, (they said that all they will do is the minimum legally required liability, not the car itself), and they told me that if I ever drop the insurance coverage, and want to get coverage on it again later, that they may not be able to do it.

I spoke to the insurance agent across the street from my office. He spoke with Progressive & they will insure my buggy with liability policy here in NC. Progressive may be different in your state on coverage due to state guidelines.
However, Progressive stated that my buggy would have to be garaged.

Grundy Worldwide insures buggies with agreed upon value and liability. There are restrictions such as must be garaged, have a primary other vehicle, no racing, and some off paved highway restrictions.
Different states may have different rules. I'm in Arizona where we have 365 days to enjoy. Note: Grundy Worldwide Insurance is not the same as Grundy Classic Car Insurance. |

I have Grundy insuring 3 meyers manxes one 74 westfalia and my 57 vespa. All are agreed value. My policy total for those vehicles is 650.00 per year....that is 125 per vehicle if you break it down. all of these are garaged, are not primary vehicles and are agreed value policies. Due to the number of cars, the policy is cheaper..as cannot drive all of them at once.
Haggerty will not touch a dune buggy but will insure any other type of "kit" car...like speedsters, mgs etc.

And Grundy will cover a Meyers Manx but not a clone. They want a vehicle with a documented number of vehicles produced i was told. |

I have ours insured with Hagerty - However there has to be no possibility that it will be taken off-road. If so, they wont touch it. |

I'm in Pa and use The Insurance Man in Willow Grove. He got me a policy with a company whose name escapes me right now. It's a 'stated value' policy. That means i have to state the value, and then they come back with a quote. Full coverage for a $15k vehicle = $250/year. There are four caveats though: vehicle has to NORMALLY be stored indoors, cannot go off-road (off pavement does not equal off-road, if the road has a name on a map, it IS a road), vehicle cannot be used to tow or haul anything.
That last part was hard to swallow because i wanted to build a small camping trailer and do some camping. |

Forgot to add, must keep mileage below 5k per year. That is difficult as it is my daily year-round driver. |

WOW...that is completely odd. They would not even discuss it with me when I told them I had 4 Meyers Manxes and told them thatthey would never be off road.
Hmmm. when did you get your insurance? |
