I am planning on painting all of my chrome trim semi-gloss black. What would be the cheapest paint that will last and look good, also what technique would be best to use (ie. rattle can or brush on)
I know many of you will say it is not worth it to spray paint but i'm thinking that because the trim is just plastic it won't make any difference the only thing that i am worried about spray painting is the handles... |

my first question is why?? but if you're so inclined i guess go for it, but no matter which paint you use, ie shake n shoot or brush, chances are after several hundred times of using the handles, the paints going to start coming off, especially if you just paint oveer the chrome, these things just arent meant to go that way, i suggest just leaviing it chrome, it looks good and even if you did paint them you would have to take the chrome off, then you risk having those handles rusting on top of everything else |

The reason is that my trim I have right now looks light crap cause all of the plastic chrome coloring is chipping off. I plan on getting black t-bars and I really am not a fan of chrome in general. I find it too flashy. I also think it would look pretty nice (that's just my opinion though)
What about painting the handles with some of the black por-15. There would definiatley be no worries of rust in that case, but i haven't tried por 15 so i don't know how smooth it finishes
In the long run i would like to get some nice black porsche wheels,(but thats just dreaming now) |

its cool on the plastic just make sure you get something that sticks but like i said on the handles i dont think it matters what you use, the paint will eventually start to come off and then look even worse, beside that, i know you may think it will look cool but i think once you get it done you might think it looks funny, because obviously they made those pieces in chrome for a reason, but thats just me hope it all works out |

Just what trim is plastic?
The only chromed plastic trim I know of on a Super may be the headlight rings, and the trim in the window rubber.
Please let us know what else is chromed plastic. |

hes right nothing else is plastic, even the trim down the sides, its all steel trim, and i know this is just a toy but it may give you some perspective....
i think if you dont like the chrome just get rid of it, you may have holes to fill but i think (once again from a personal stand point) that it would look better that way than black (jut a thought) |

If you take it off, scuff it well and shoot it with automotive paint, it wont be an issue.
Scuff-n-Rattle or Scuff-n-Brush will chip and peel because the paint is not as hard.
Brushing might be ok if you use an industrial paint.
I've seen several with black trim and I like it. |

i wouldnt ever use a rattle can on metal trim. Plastic, sure. but on metal even the slightest thing can and will chip it and then it ends up looking horrible. |
