"Everything works accept the AC and power mirrors." For 29 large I'd expect better.

Sort of my thoughts as well. For 29, I shouldn't have to worry too much. After the $30k mark I feel it should be heavily modified with extras and everything clean/working. I'm trying to stay 25max

Are you the owner of that van? I've come across it a few times, but in SoCal.

Nope! Just seemed like an good deal...pending some questions of course. Interesting to hear that you've seen it in other locations.

I wanted to ask the beautiful Samba community what they thought of it? He said garaged kept 22 years. His grandpa was the second owner bought in '99. His grandpa bought from the original owner who was his neighbor. Looks like it's in pristine shape! Vin checks out... 88k miles, not sure if the 20 + year inactive Aircooled engine will be a problem. Owner reports it drives incredibly well, "you could drive it to NY right now without worrying (From Seattle)." Recent tune up, new tires, sealed.

Any thoughts? worth 13k? something I'm missing? Thank you!

Wow! The winning bidder had no bidding history.

Yeah, I think they are planning on relisting it... due to that but wasn't sure as to why it sold so inexpensively...

Don't know if it's a good deal or not but it looks like a syncro parts van for 2K CAD.

Ad says it has a 4 speed trans in it so he probably pulled the syncro trans.

Howdy, y'all,

First post but been lurking a while!

A friend asked me about this Westy:

Good deal?

bobbyblack Thu Jun 11, 2020 12:01 pm

An '80 with kitchen rot, smashed corner, bad canvas, gross looking seats. Pass. ~$1500 tops..

4Gears4Tires Thu Jun 11, 2020 1:42 pm

Don't forget visible seam rust. Driver side at the floor level and passenger side above the rear wheel. Driver side middle windows have rust too.

Any rust you can see is 10% of the rust there is. So it's gonna have some rust.

old_man Thu Jun 11, 2020 6:21 pm

I could actually make out the rust that was freshly painted over. Lower windshield and what not.

Still a great deal at 325 , that is, for anyone in England.
I would snap those up right quick.

Et22 with the deep dish too.

That is a good deal. Why is buying vans so addictive? I need them but I have no space for them!
