Is that the one that was on ebay last month and was pulled before it ended?

JoshG Fri Feb 23, 2007 9:56 am

Where exactly is this thing listed for $51K????

kevinbassplayer Fri Feb 23, 2007 11:16 am

 I thought the title of the thread was "Good Deal's on Nice Vans" not
"Bad Deal's on Extremely Overpriced Van's"

Fairly nice looking deal on craigslist Santa Barbara right now...
86 pop top for 1100 bucks
says it has no rust, but problems with the engine..

bigdood Fri Mar 23, 2007 12:05 pm

this one looks decent, at least as far as you can tell from a fuzzy photo. i like the blue, wish i had a garage i'd buy and fix.

This seems awfully fair - even if it is a basket case underneath...

$2500 for a 1990 carat

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/298589414.html

I am tempted... 2500 seems nice for all the spare parts to feed my 87 maroon syncro - starting with the bodywork.

BoneStock67 Sat Mar 24, 2007 6:11 am

Has anyone seen this one?
http://medford.craigslist.org/car/290759649.html
I think I mentioned an earlier version of this listing in this thread before the Great Samba Crash of '07.
$2500 for an '86 weekender; body looks good from the posted pictures.
The listing was up for a while in Feb with a disclaimer "may need engine work in the future", but it's back, without the disclaimer.
Perhaps the engine has miraculously healed itself?
Either way, it seems to me it's worth a look, for someone not clear across the country; >$1000 shipping costs make it a not so good value for me.

jakebayless Fri Mar 30, 2007 10:26 pm

I cannot imagine this is a bad deal... Fair at worst - probably great. I live in Santa Rosa (where it is being sold) and might be willing to look at it if someone is seriously interested...

This Van is not everyone's style, but sweet non-the less. Thos of us who have done full body paint jobs, custom interiors and engine swaps know that it would be hard to finish such a project for less than 20K.

Good luck finding someone who will pay that.

here's a good deal on an "87"
http://dallas.craigslist.org/car/310399140.html
craigslist sucks

Van-go108 Mon Apr 16, 2007 12:43 pm

I have to jump in...

With all this talk with prices going up. I feel that one day mine will be worth more than I paid ($1500). I think that's COOL. However, If you consider what's on the market these days, you may have a hard time selling an over-priced classic. Bank criteria being as it is. (age and mileage). They just won't loan money on everything.

A Hippie can dream, Ya know.

P. s. It's always worth what someone is willing to pay :D

craigslist sucks

$1800 for a pile, maybe a good deal for the seller.

Personally I'd pay good money for a custom Van with Porsche rims and a powerfull Subaru transplant than any money for a headache on wheels. But your right it is affordable though. Maybe I'll put my dog's blind mullet he dropped on the lawn on Craig's list for $5, hell it's cheap maybe someone would buy it.

mightyart Mon Apr 16, 2007 7:35 pm

Yea, sure you would.

I posted the "87" cause it wasn't, but it is a better deal
I thought this thead was good deals, not overpriced Vans.

tencentlife Mon Apr 16, 2007 7:43 pm

I figured that was why you used quotes. I even quoted your quotes.

That is a nice van, though, the $19.5 one. Someone might consider it a good deal, you never know.

Besides, it's van porn. That's never OT.

I would sure make a cover for those amps.

BoneStock67 Tue Apr 17, 2007 7:11 am

How about this one?
A rare multivan, or is it???
Seller suggests that the pop-top may have been an add-on, but I can't tell.
Anyone?
Anything else unusual or Frankenwesty about it?

mightyart Tue Apr 17, 2007 7:39 am

The VIN and the sliders say it's a passenger van.
Westfakia.
When a used car salesman says the top could have been added, he means it was added and he just wants to cover his butt.
