I'm looking to upgrade my brakes to disk all around.
Also targeting 15" rims with the following requirements:
1) would like to drop the car 2 1/2" all around.
2) would like slightly wider tires than stock.
3) prefer front and back to be same size, or not drastic difference.
4) don't like appearance of shortened front axel (ie. like wheels to be equally out to fender, front and back)
Streamlined question:
Does anyone have known good combos for 15" rims, wider tires, on a slightly lowered bug?
Thanks!
(Or, is there a Bug specific website around with a template / chart of what is possible before you get into bad options, or wheel size vs car height limitation?) |

Hi.
You may want to re-consider the disc's all around logic here. You will possibly be spending $500-1000. For a car not gonna be driven very fast I believe you will be happy with a good drum setup with a better co-efficient brake lining.
If you lower the car that may limit you on a wider tire. 2" isn't very much but the available wheels are made with a set backspacing. Ideally, if driven daily I like the same sizes front and rear. This is for tire rotation and spare tire diameter. To me an ideal setup is 5 1/2 to 6" wheels with a 195/65R15 tire.
What trans and axle length does your '60 have, as this could influence the wheel backspacing.
Hope this helps, Bill. |

If you are going to do disks don't forget that they push out the wheels 1-2 inches on each side. |
