Can anyone recommend a good vw shop in N. California? Any help would be appreciated.
Also I want to buy all new parts to rebuild my entire front end on a 69 Ghia. This would include drop spindles. Could someone be so kind as to list all the parts I would need to buy to do this. Steering, ball joints, dampners, tie rods etc.
Thanks everyone!

Sounds like your in the Yuba City/Woodland area or somewhat around there. I don't know any VW parts stores in that region.
Only one I know is the Sacramento Bugformance off of I-80/El Camino Ave. - http://www.bugformancesuperstore.com |

What are your plans for the old spindles? I might be interested in buying them from you. |

There's gotta be some good repair shops in college towns like Davis and Chico in the Northstate (I went to Chico State myself, and vaguely remember a shop on Cohasset, was it? Or Pine??) Anyone live in Davis or Chico presently care to lend a hand? |

Besides Bupformance the only other shop I know of in the Sacto area is Greg's VW Service http://www.gregsvw.com/ . The is also a fella in Winters that had a garage that has years (decades) of aircooled vw experience. He is out of the business (is a fleet manager for Solano County now) but still has his shop in town and moonlights when the passion hits. He's got old vw oil for blood I think. I can give you a contact if you wish.
I'm figuring you must be up by Arbucle, Williams, or Willows. Don't know of any shops up that way. You might check with these clubs (in samba community):

I'm just outside of Sacramento and know of 2 places other than Bugformance. Economy Garage in Citrus Heights has a good mechanic/owner Jim Pfile. Don't know if he does much/any body work. Another place is Chet & Cliff's Garage on Fulton Avenue in Sacramento. Talked with Jeff a couple times. Seems knowledgeable and fair. Not pushy at all. Haven't had any work done yet (just bought my Ghia this summer). Hope that helps. |

I appreciate all the info.
I want the front end completely rebuilt and dropped, new brakes all around and a new headliner put in.
I will try bugformance in Sac. Yes I live near Willows.
On another note, I have never been able to upload pics so I can share my car with you all. I have pics sitting at photobucket but can't seem to get it all to work. Any suggestions? |
