hey guys, i am just looking at this fourum for the first time. I am from texas but living in mexico. I am here for medical school and bought a thing as i have always wanted one, and kinda a vw enthusiest. Parts are plentifull and cheap, with the exception of one or two things. even got an original looking top made with frame and chrome latches and hooks for 400 bucks. the only two things i am looking for to complete my project are a wiper motor(i know laugh, but i know someone that rebulds them here...just cant get a hold of them, and i was looking for a sway bar option for the rear end. i was woundering what you would recomend.

also i am running a stock engine,(albiet a 2001 model with hydraulic lifters) and i was woundering if anybody has used the svda distibutors and has anything to say about them?

I have used the SVDA (aka SDDA, Bosch 034) on several cars with both stock and dual carbs. I saw a 3-5 MPG increase in mileage, better performance and no flat spot! I highly recommend them. They use standard 009 cap and points. I just got a new one on ebay for ~$80 delivered also. If you run dual Kadrons, you need a port drilled for them- AJ at www.lowbugget.com does it for $40.

well i think i will pick one up then, i am just running it on a stock sysytem since gas is expensive here in mexico, pict 34 carb, i am currently running a stock vacume distributor, but want the mpg increase and a little pep.

AHHH- if you have the stock vacuum distributor, you'll probably not see that much of an increase... I was talking about a 3-5 increase over the 009.

not a poblem man, just always looking for a new way to get a little more out of stock. it looking like i might be moving back to the states shortly so i am trying to get every last thing fixed on her down here before i import her. then it will be time to get serious about building a new more aggresive engine anyway since high gas costs wont be a huge issue. here in mexico gas is unreal.
