I have all new door seals and window seals for the front doors of my 67 Westy.
Questions is there are several pieces to them and I have no idea about which one goes where? This Kombi was completely disassembled when I got it. :shock:
Does someone have a diagram they can post so I can get these right?
I ordered my Bentley manual but just have not got it yet! Thanks.

keep in mind (unless i am incorrect and this was only for early splits) that the cab door seals should be cut and overlapped at the point where the body bumps out at the beltline.

Sorry to jump in like this, but I am in the same boat waiting on the Bentley.

Are the cargo door seals installed in the doors as well as the body channel?

Also, do the front door body seals install around the entire perimeter of the body?

Now it makes a bit more sense. I thought I had it figured out but I didn't.
There's more seals to find like that upper part (rain seal I guess) and I have a wedge seal that is a couple of feet long yet to ID. :lol:

Whos's seals did you get?

WW are generic, one size fits all and WCM are 67 style and have different profiles. I perfer WCM front door seals over WW, they seem to fit and work better

I bought this 67 Westy COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLED with a boat load of parts. Some have P/Ns and some dont. My seals dont look like those on the dropgates page? They look quality to me, now the cargo doors looks like a really long grey Kit-Kat candy bar! :o
Maybe I should wait for the Bentley to arrive and not goof up other wise good seals. :twisted:

Lay out the WCM seals, there should be 3 different profiles.
The biggest diameter one with a wedge cut into it is the A piller one, beltline to dogleg
The long one with the U molded in it is the beltline to beltline (up and around one)
The big sguare one is the dogleg seal
The short piece is the B pillar to beltline seal

I prefer WCM (front door seals) over WW as they are the correct 67 profile and are also the superceeded seals if haveing them replaced at a dealer after 1967.
I always wondered if progressive refinements ever stated this. I believe this to be true as the seals I recieved when I bought my DC were all from the dealer (I would call them NOS even though bought in the 80's) and they are just like the WCM ones except a shin over the foam inners.

The pics on Dropgates shows the correct way to overlap them at the beltlines.

Piece of cake. Prefit first, then glue in!

The seals are glued in with "gorilla snot" or 3M yellow weatherstrip adhesive which any good FLAPS should sell. It comes in a toothpaste tube.

On the last photo of the dropgates picture layout. It looks like there are two seals glued together?? Wondering if I need to glue a seal over the replacement seal I have. Or, is that the very early split bus rubber talked about. I still have wind noise. The overlap trick will help, just wasnt sure how to overlap it, as when I took out the original rubber. I didnt notice the overlaping area and, it just crumbled when I removed it.

Who has the best felt window seals now? I'm not a fan of the WW ones I got recently.

Did you go the cheap route and get the brazillian ones?

Even the German ones that I got from them don't have a rounded upper corner but the felt and seal is thicker so the glass fits better than the brazillian ones. I'm not 100% stoked on them either BTW.

I must have the Brazilian ones. I ordered the cab door seal kit and didn't see an option for German. The ones they've sent in the past were nice.

When you're using pedestal mats, and the edge of the mat gets folded into the channel where the seal is going to go, do you glue the mats in for that "wrap"?

Og was glue mat to wheelwell. It stays fine if you have seatbelt mounts correct and rubber bumpers/plugs correct. Og the mat edge curled under from the mold, aftermarket doesn't curl on it's own and has to be trained. Also there is an extra bead on the aftermarket wrap that I cut off so the rubber fits better. Up to your preference.
