I have a pair, but not from Hans. I got my from Gunter, aka FAT ASS. Formely known as STREET BOOTY ............. any hoot ............... once painted and mounted..........you will never know the difference. Unless you send Kosher patrol to inspect them. I have some on my Standard and you can't tell the difference. But if you want the real deal, spend the big bucks!!! You will sleep better.
ANCHOVY....................yes Sir! Those are the ones I want. Though go ahead and pull the NOS trick! Or better yet, do the NOS Patina thing, have Linda write out some long boring ass advertisement on how important it is to have this one specific piece for your restoration. Then you will have tons of kids bombing you with e-mails for requests. Then in return you say you sold them all out like a U2 concert on St. Patty's Day in Dublin, Ireland. (get where I'm going with this now?) Now he is the trick, and no, not a trick as in Linda being one. You then contact them potential victim and tell them that by some miracle you found one more pair of these hardware, which you were saving for your restoration, but your will to part out with them for an inconvenience fee. |

That's a great idea but part of my repertoire already. (Please don’t share my modus operandi with (the) hoi polloi!) One of my other tactics is listing desirable items “for sale” with a nebulous price of “best offer”. I never intend to sell these items of course, but the rush of having everyone after them is only matched by the superiority I feel when wearing platform shoes to a lolli-pop guild meeting.
As penance for these types of antics I was thinking to go philanthropic with the wing nuts and toss them out to the crowd at the next VW show like Mardi Gras doubloons.....HEADS UP! |

Don't worry about me allowing the cat out of the bag. Though I would advise you as to NOT expressing any of this to Linda......cuz he will subliminally tease folks out in the world wide web. You know what I mean, Right? Example..........this Drew kid, minding his own business. Then some one was seeking info, then guess who comes in gives names, identities and their handles as well. Yup! You know who. Then Drew had to come up in here and represent. Same thing happend to me. I got exposed by Linda.
Any hoot...........seems like you got something good going on. And MUMS the word. |

Got the DIN 316's today. They are a pretty good replacement but not like the originals which are one piece forged. These replacements are two pieces welded together and then it looks like the head of the bolt is turned off. They are also a bright cad. plating instead of the dull finish. Here is a photo of wing screw with a couple levels of patina added:
Originals for reference:
For those that have already PM'd, I will ship out today. For those in need, send me an email to [email protected] and let me know which surface finish you want. Thanks, |

ill make a list of who requests them and those folks will be notified before i post an ad. im not sure of the cost yet though.
Mike,do you need some or are you just following JerFab around to give him a hard time?
i was also looking into having pressed bumper carriage bolts made as well. i have never had luck finding anything out there to match originals. if anyone has interest in those PM me rather than clogging this forum up. or if anybody already knows of a source so that i can get some... |

Hey Mark, I was just following JerFab to give him a hard time. Now I would be interesed in some pressed bumper carriage bolts if they could be done before the classic? I am pushing to debut the truck for classic and am going to need them before then. |

dang, Anchovy you don't have to buy 100 of those you can buy them one at a time from http://www.mcmaster.com/ part number 92595A503 ($3 each) they are the same ones you have, just not as rusty..... Hey I have a friend with clean hands that can clean up those rusty ones for you....she'll make them look good as new. http://www.mcmaster.com/ used to have the old style like the OG ones, but they don't carry them any more, but you can always ask them. they will do the research for you....... good luck with your nuts..
